Auburn, NY- District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that RYAN CLEMENT, 40, of the Carthage, New York pled guilty to one count of Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a Class D felony, in Cayuga County Court before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone.
The charges arose from a transaction that occurred on September 21, 2021 in the Town of Moravia where CLEMENT fraudulently contracted to build a shed. He received $6,000 upfront as a down payment from the victim, despite having no intention of building such a structure. CLEMENT was charged with this crime after he failed to start the construction for months, as well as refused to reimburse the victim. CLEMENT was convicted of stealing from multiple victims throughout New York State using this same scheme.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 29, 2023. CLEMENT will receive the maximum statutory term of imprisonment of 3 ½ to 7 years. CLEMENT will also be required to pay full restitution to the victim.
The case was handled by Assistant District Attorney Richard Pado.
