Grand Jury Hands Up Indictment in Cayuga Correctional Facility Assault Case

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that the Cayuga County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Darryl BRADSHAW, a former inmate at Cayuga Correctional Facility. The indictment charges BRADSHAW with one count each of Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, a Class D Felony; Attempted Assault in the Second Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence, both Class E Felonies. The indictment alleges that on October 16, 2022, BRADSHAW possessed an illegal contraband weapon; used the weapon to attempt to cause physical injury to a Correction Officer; and then concealed the weapon in the toilet of his cell.
BRADSHAW was arraigned today on the sealed indictment before the Cayuga County Court. His next court date is March 13, 2023 at 1:30 PM. BRADSHAW is currently confined to Auburn Correctional Facility and faces a consecutive prison sentence by operation of law.
As with any other individual accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
