Auburn, NY- District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that GAGE ASHLEY was arraigned this morning before the Cayuga Court on an indictment charging him with Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. Hon. Thomas G. Leone remanded ASHLEY to the Cayuga County Jail without bail.

The charges arise from the homicide of Joshua Poole at 8 Delevan Street in the City of Auburn on November 15, 2019. The Auburn Police Department arrested ASHLEY on May 8, 2023. He was charged after the Appellate Division reversed his prior guilty plea conviction on May 5, 2023 based on a technical grand jury issue. The DA’s Office has filed for permission to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeals (NY’s top court).

ASHLEY is scheduled to next appear in court on July 13, 2023.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
