Defendant Sentenced for Repeatedly Sexually Assaulting a Child

Auburn, NY- District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that Michael PETERSON, 42, of Weedsport, New York was sentenced to fourteen years to life in prison. 

PETERSON previously pled guilty in Cayuga County Court before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone on September 6, 2023, to one count of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a Class A-II Felony, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.  The plea took place prior to a jury trial commencing.

As set forth in the indictment, PETERSON admitted to sexually assaulting a female child, under the age of thirteen, for approximately six years.

Senior ADA Heather De Stefano prosecuted this case. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.
